St Andrews Sukhumvit 107 (S107) has always been dedicated to nurturing creativity and talent among our students. Within our vibrant creative community, Win and Lennon stand out as shining examples of dedication and passion in the realm of Creative Arts at S107.
Win, a Year 8 student, possesses a remarkable talent for playing the piano, a skill he has developed since the age of 4. His musical journey commenced under the guidance of his parents, who found his musical talent and enrolled him in piano lessons. Over the years, Win’s dedication and commitment to his craft has only intensified, propelling him toward his aspiration of becoming a music producer and concert pianist. He has recently participated in numerous domestic competitions achieving notable success by clinching the 1st Prize in the 7th Thailand Chopin International Piano Competition. As the recipient of the 1st prize, Win was honoured to receive the Royal Trophy from Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.
In a recent conversation, Win shared that the opportunities that S107 has provided for him to develop his talents in music and other areas have been truly special. With support from his two cousins who are S107 alumni, and friends, Win adapted well to his new surroundings and decided to try new sports like basketball. Recently, his team also won 1st place in the U15 Boys TISAC Basketball event among other international schools in Bangkok. From musical performances to other events at S107, Win expressed gratitude for the supportive environment at the school, where he has collaborated with fellow musicians and received guidance from experienced teachers, like our gifted music teacher Mr. Michael.
Another outstanding S107 student, Lennon (Year 9), brings his unique flair to the Creative Arts community. With a history of remarkable achievements in international music competitions, Lennon has firmly established himself as one of the school’s most distinguished music performers. Lennon’s musical journey also commenced at the age of 4 , and his talent began to shine when he demonstrated his perfect pitch skill by covering Mozart’s Sonata in C major by only listening to the music. Whilst he excels in playing a variety of instruments such as drums, electric guitar, and trumpet, he has chosen piano as his specialty. He steadily improves his skills through competition and learning new pieces, culminating in achieving a Piano ABRSM Grade 8 qualification at the age of just 11.
Reflecting on his time at S107 so far, Lennon speaks passionately about the support he has received from the school community and the many opportunities that he could showcase his skills to his friends, which is what Lennon enjoys doing. In addition to mastering classical repertoire, Lennon has explored different genres of music to further his growth. He has developed a fondness for rap music and even composed several original songs in his free time.
As Win and Lennon continue to pursue their musical dreams at St Andrews Sukhumvit 107, they serve as inspirations for their fellow students. With their passion for music, both students model the school value of success and leave their mark on the talent pool at St Andrews 107.
